Espacios Latentes/Latent Spaces
Wild-er-ness and WECreateICE are presented as part of the Ana Baer's Espacios Latentes/Latent Spaces exhibition at Texas State Galleries, San Marcos, TX, USA, from October 24 to November 16, 2018.
Espacios Latentes/Latent Spaces is an installation of site-specific screendance works by Ana Baer and artistic collaborators curated by Margo Handwerker for TheTXST Galleries. The exhibit consisted of five works co-directed, co-produced, filmed and edited by Baer. The project explores two broad themes within Baer’s site-specific screendance work: themes loosely categorized as “extreme environments” (Wild-er-ness + WECreateICE + PARAKATA) and “identity, roots, and home” (shift + homemaker).
Heike Salzer shared the direction, production, cinematography and editing of the piece WECreateICE, as well as the direction and production of Wild-er-ness; Cheri Progh De-Vol created the scenic design for the whole exhibit; Richard Burton created textile art for Wild-er-ness; Richard Hall created original sound tracks for Wild-er-ness + WECreateICE + shift +homemaker and designed the audio for the galleries; Omar Soriano created music for PARAKATA.
Espacios Latentes/Latent Spaces was open from October 24 to November 16, 2018. As opening event the space was activated by a live performance by Rocio Luna, Heike Salzer, Pat Stone, Brandon Gonzalez and Michelle Nance, who in addition, directed this live event. All five dancers were featured in the screendance works, as well as Natalia Reza and Nan Sims. Live music was played during the event by TXST Mysterium under the direction of Richard D. Hall.
