Site specific screendance presentation
Hosted by Michael Hall MA Future Design programme leader, Heike was invited to present at this years Institute of Design, Culture and Art research seminar series at Teesside University, Wednesday 5th November 2014. The seminars are held monthly and are an opportunity for staff, research and postgraduate students to share their research and network with others. The presentations reflect the identity and research interests of the art, design, media and performing arts researchers in IDCA and will cover both practice as research and contextual and cultural theory and interpretation.
Heike is joined by Jeweller in Residence at Mima, Gemma Draper whose presentation will encompass her ongoing speculation on how a studio-based practice in one of the far corners of the Applied Arts playground has been affected by some radical changes as a result of closing her Barcelona studio and moving to work at Teesside University and how this is transforming her approach to the making, thinking and communication that articulate her practice.
Heike will be talking about Site Specific Screendance, and will illustrate how embodied research methods inform her research and the creation of her screendance works. She will screen some examples of the pieces which have recently toured International festivals in Brazil, Guatemala, and the United States.
